P-41 multi - purpose rudder
I put a lot of time into this rudder. This one is my favorite because of how simple it is ... This rudder can be reconfigured to a shallow water set up whereby both the rudder and housing are higher up on the boat in less than two minutes using all the same components with nothing extra. Blade rake is adjustable as is kick back feature. Blade release can be set to release the softest grass or come back down firm after running off an embankment on a no-time-to-carry 'portage' section. Foiled Blade Rudder
These rudder kits will drop into just about any boat already set up for a pin type system which we like better because they do not drag 1/2 the housing in water. Can be adapted to retrofit to stern ( transom) type mounts too. They are as compact as possible while not having the blade come cleaving down as with a small diameter control sheave. Gas Pedal / Foot Bar
Gas Pedal / Foot Bar System for install on Yakima footbraces. If you scroll down to the West Side Systems just below they pretty much look the same minus the carbon mounting tabs the Westside kits come with. These systems have a large, non-spongy surface enabling multiple foot positions for a more comfortable and ergonomically efficient transfer of energy. You will be able to paddle with your feet and legs in more user friendly positions with leg pumping freedom while still retaining full bracing AND steering ability from any position. No more splayed out ankles, knees and hips. Comfort, handling and performance are all enhanced. I know it sounds like hype but, like switching to a lightweight paddle, you will wonder how you ever dealt with the stock setup.

The Gas Pedal Systems work best when mounted on Yakima footbraces ( Available below ). I supply a mounting hardware kit that allows in the field (land), tool free, fore and aft adjustability with the Gas Pedal / Foot Bar system in place.
Non-rudder users. We also have a Foot Plate Kit ( not shown ) that allows you too to unwind your hips, knees, ankles as above and lets your feet be where they evolved to be. It is much more solid than foam or similar bulkhead modifications to pump and brace off of. The kit takes all of 15 minutes to install with no cutting foam, gluing, or modification to the boat. Full, fore / aft adjustment range is retained. Foot plate angle is also adjustable if desired and entire kit could be pulled without leaving a mess if you wanted to put it in another boat.

Gas Pedal / Foot Bar systems designed to drop right onto the "L" brackets of Doug's beautiful creations. Same mounting bolts are used. System can be fitted to any West Side Boat including the new new Thunderbolts. Other applications too .. just ask.
IMO, these systems are superior to the tiller bar set up for active use in and on waves and chop. Better control and application of power while working the bumps without ever having to 'lift' just to steer..... There is a difference.

Here is our Skeg Box and why we think we are raising the bar by building the best on the market.
Not just a foiled shape but the BEST all-round foil shape for reduced drag with a wide stall angle since boats do not travel in a perfectly straight line. All metal interface spots ( axle & cable pivot) on blade are super reinforced to last.
Low volume, boat packing friendly cassette box which is easy to install. Box is just large enough to fit blade and fittings.
Overkill Stainless Steel control cable and fittings which work with a smooth housing and real world brass fittings and Stainless hose clamps. Kit comes with plenty of fittings + housing and control cable length to mount as you see fit.
Recessed, 1/2 round adjuster ball mounting plate and slider ball with easy to set up allen set screw.
These Skeg Kits WILL NOT ! Leak, kink cables, require constant maintenence, detract from boat's appearance or bewilder it's user.
These Skeg Kits WILL ! Allow one to fine tune a boats handling in the breeze, see right where the skeg is at any time vis-a-vis the no brainer ball in position set up and enhance the performance range of said boat.
Because time is the largest expense in building these, we are only offering these in Carbon. The first plys inside the box are glass with white pigmented epoxy to cut down on galvanic interaction between the carbon blade and associated hardware + the white lights up the inside of the box so it is a lot easier to see what is going on in there.

Side note on this one is cable is intended to bow in the slider assembly and ball is sized for both the deeper recesses of thicker cross section wood boats as well as glass ones. Reviewer astutely understood simple modification for personal preference. I like this.

Contour Seats
This seat is all day comfortable. The back can be adjusted for height as well as fore / aft lean. A LOT of thought went into this simple seat. Please notice the quiet, elegant seat back adjusting "system". While big manufacturers are competing with each other to see who can complicate and clutter the cockpit / seat area with the most small parts made out of rustable metal and over engineered plastic we stand by our "system" to actually still work in a year. This Contour Seat is also dynamic in that as you lean back the seat slightly flexes to hold you in better... upon sitting back up it ' lets go' for good, torso rotating, forward stroke form.

As the paddling market grows, medium size companys are gradually being bought up by and assimilated with larger ones. There seems to be a ever increasing splintering off between the mainstream, generic, big box offerings and the specialty custom shops / builders. We proudly are one of the latter....
What we are trying to do here is offer correctly designed, thoroughly tested, well made, zero compromise products that will enhance your paddling experience. You will never ( probably : ) see our ONNO accessory products in stores but we predict you will see something like them in the future as demand from well versed consumers compels the larger manufacturers to finally develop their own watered down versions. Please remember you saw them here first even as huge ad campaigns are built around some "newly-created-just-for-you-by-us" plastic, over-underengineered products are billboarded in the Magazines.
We are NOT saying you NEED this stuff to get on the water and have a ton of fun and this is not gram counting as in some sectors of the cycling market..... We are humbly offering products which will enhance your enjoyment of the paddling experience and performance of your kayak. I know this might sound 'out there' but the closer you can attempt to connect and interface with your boat on an organic level, the better off you will be. That is what we are shooting for here.
We like to think we are creating and raising a new aftermarket-product-baby here.
These components represent the highest construction level (strength and light weight) you will ever find in this sector of the industry.....although there ARE ways to do them faster.....which will no doubt be employed by the big guys down the road....... think mushy, isotropic, injection molded plastic.
